The Apple House
Bacton-on-Sea, NORFOLK
"Apple House is the very best place we have ever stayed in"
Local Beaches
Our part of Norfolk has many fine beaches:
Â
Bacton and Walcott beaches. These two join together and are the most accessible from the Apple House. They are sandy beaches and can be reached from the road at various points in the 2 villages.
Â
Happisburgh beach (pronounced 'Haisborough'). This area has been in the news because of sea erosion of the cliffs but the beach is long and seldom crowded. On the top of the cliffs is the famous Happisburgh Lighthouse
Â
Eccles Beach. Another wide, empty beach. You can walk to it from Happisburgh Beach or access it via Cart Gap Road (NR12 0QL - if you have a sat nav). The Small stick's cafe is on the road leading to the beach.
Â
Sea Palling beach. This is a popular location for surfers but also good for walking, bird spotting and photographs.
Â
In the opposite direction there are also good beaches at Mundesley, Overstrand, Cromer (+ pier), East Runton and Sheringham. You are spoiled for choice in these parts!
